There is the history in the guidebooks, that tells you which pharaoh they belonged to but there are many that dispute these 'facts' and argue, angels, gods or even visitors from other solar systems built them. The fact that they are 4000 years old plus the sheer size of them makes them even more breathtaking that something produced without machinery so many thousands of years ago could survive.
